Official machinery to maintain sanitation work

Hyderabad, Aug 9 (UNI) The State Panchayat Raj Department today instructed all the District Panchayat Officers, Chief Executive Officers, Zill Parishads of the flood affected districts to ensure that the administrative machinery take steps to maintain sanitation work in low-lying areas.

A release here said they were permitted to use the funds available with the Gram Panchayats for sanitation purpose in all the villages.

About 5680 villages in 16 districts were affected due to incessant rains and floods.

The district panchayat officers were allowed to to engage local labourers for round-the-clock work, the release added.
