Mishap kills 5

Dhamtari, Aug 9 (UNI) Five persons were killed on the spot after a speeding car rammed a stationary truck on the Bastar road at about 0030 hrs today roughly 5 km from this district headquarters in Chhattisgarh, police said.

The vehicle, returning from Chiraud eatery, plowed into the timber-laden truck near Shyamtarai forest produce checkpost. It took a long time for the bodies to be extricated.

The victims were identified as civil contractors Radheshyam Sharma, Manoj Gupta and Gopal Soni besides businessmen Manohan Moolwani and Ashok Jain. They were between 40 and 43 years of age.
