Kashmir highway reopens after two days
Srinagar, Aug 9 (UNI) Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was resumed this morning from both sides after remaining suspended for two days due to landslides and mudslides triggered by heavy rains.
Official sources said the highway, the only road linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was reopened after the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for maintenance of the road, cleared the landslides and mudslides.
Traffic from Jammu and Srinagar was allowed this morning after all the stranded vehicles were allowed to proceed towards their respective destination, they said.
