Karnataka outplay ICF in Magnolia trophy

Chennai, Aug 9 (UNI) Karanataka state team outplayed local outfit Integral Coach Factory (ICF) 62-33 in their first league outing of the 28th Ace Basketball club and L&T All India tournament for the Magnolia trophy here.

In a late night match delayed due to rain, Karnatka took control of the game right from the start even as ICF played a disjointed game.

Srinivasa Gowda (12), Roshan Thangachan(11) and Kaushik Ravikumar (10) did the scoring for Karanataka who led 40-21 at half time.

P Balaji did the shooting for ICF, scoring 13 points.

However, another outstation team Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), former winners here, went down tamely to seven times champions Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) 72-42, down 27-41 at half time.

Tamil Nadu star Sukavaneshwaran broke into the KSEB defence brilliantly from the second quarter. He top socored with 24 points, while Mihir Pandey (4) and John D Platto(10) also chipped in. An off colour Kerala team fell back after running the Bankmen close till 171-13 in the first quarter.

Scores: Karnataka 62 (Srinivasa Gowda 12, Roshan Thangachan 11, Kaushik Ravikumar 10) but ICF 33(P Balaji 13).

IOB 72 (Sukavaneshawaran 24, Mihir Pandey 14) bt KSEB 42(M Manoj 14).
