Flood situation grim in Chhattisgarh
Jagdalpur, Aug 9 (UNI) Although rains have halted, the flood situation remained grim in Chhattisgarh's Dantewara district with the water level of Shabri river rising due to backwaters of Godavari river.
Dantewara district panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rohit Yadav said the Shabri level was at 15.6 m above the danger mark of 14 m.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to flood touched 11 with the death of three more persons.
The old town at Konta tahsil headquarters and Injram town remained submerged. Relief materials were being air-dropped by helicopters.
Mr Yadav said Central Water Commission employee Anand Dashwar Joshi's body was recovered near a tree from Injram. Anand had climbed the tree for protecting himself from flood.
Four people had died in Injram due to flood, while three fatalities occurred in Injram, two in Sukma and one each in Bacheli and Bijapur.
