MCD Standing Committee concerned over illegal constructions
New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) The Standing Committee of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today expressed concern over continuing violation of building bylaws in the capital and demanded that responsibility be fixed and action taken against guilty officials.
Raising the issue at a meeting of the Standing Committee, leader of the House and Congress councillor Jitendra Kochar said illegal constructions were continuing in the capital despite court orders.
He said he could produce evidence to show that despite a ban on such constructions since the last two years, violations on a massive scale were going on in Sainik Farms.
Other councillors also highlighted the issue and said senior officials should be hauled up for the violations.
Standing Committee chairman Jai Kishen Sharma said the MCD chairman should conduct an enquiry and submit a report by the next meeting. He also demanded that responsibility of officials be fixed in the matter.
