Man killed as crackers explode accidentally

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Aug 8 (UNI) In a freak accident, a man was killed at Meliruppu village near here today, when the crackers he was carrying on his two-wheeler exploded.

Police said the victim Manikandan (25), working in a cracker manufacturing unit, was taking a parcel of crackers to the nearby Chemankottai village on a moped.

The crackers came into contact with the hot silencer and got ignited.

Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.

Cuddalore SP Sanjay Kumar visited the scene, police added.
