Death toll in AP flood increased to 106
Hyderabad, Aug 8: With six more deaths, the toll in the flood fury in Andhra Pradesh rose to 106 today, even as the water level in the swollen Godavari river started receding from their peak levels.
Three more deaths were reported from West Godavari, two more from Guntur and one more in Karimnagar, Disaster Management Commissioner Debabratha Kanta said in a release here.
Four helicopters and an equal number of naval boats, besides 95 country-boats were pressed into service to reach out to over 1.15 lakh people shifted to about 300 relief camps.
The north Coastal Andhra region, which bore the brunt of flood havoc last week, limped back to normalcy.
The water level at Dowleswaram came down from 22.7 ft two days ago to 21.8 ft and in the temple town of Bhadrachalam, the level was 57.5 ft now as against 66.0 ft.
