Commuters detain train at Melmalavathur
Kancheepuram, Aug 8: Protesting over the withdrawal of Villupuram-Tambaram train two days ago, angry communters stopped the Pondicherry-Chennai express train at the Melmalavathur station this morning.
According to protestors, the withdrawal of the train had affected commuters from Guduvanchery, Chengalpattu, Madurantakam and Melmalavathur.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Aziz along with policemen rushed to the station and heard the grievances of the commuters, who demanded that all trains should stop at Melmalavathur station.
The police official told them that their demand would be communicated to railway officials.
The train left the station after 30 minutes of detention.
