Centre approves SEZ project in UT: Rangasamy

Pondicherry, Aug 8 (UNI) The Union Government has approved the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project in the Union Territory of Pondicherry, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the legislative assembly today.

Making a suo motu statement in the House at the fag end of the sitting, Mr Rangasamy said a committee meeting headed by Union Commerce Minister in New Delhi today approved the project and the works relating to SEZ would be expedited.

Earlier, answering a question, he said the land acquisition process for the SEZ was in progress.

Stating that the government was ready to give the market price to the farmers whose land was being acquired, he said ''lot of job opportunities would be made available to the farmers in the SEZ.'' UNI PAB ROY PAG SK VV1532
