BU to host seminar on 'Best Library Practices'

Bangalore, Aug 8 (UNI) Librarians drawn from nearly 75 universities across the country will take part in a national seminar on 'Best Practices in Library and Information Science', to be held at Bangalore University from August nine to 12.

Briefing newspersons here Yesterday, Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor H A Ranganath said the seminar, sponsored by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and organised by the varsity, would mainly discuss adoption of best practices in library and information services in the wake of information explosion and fast paced development in Information Communication Technology.

Seminar Organising Secretary and varsity Chief Librarian P V Konnur said about 500 librarians from NAAC accredited libraries would take part in the seminar. They would exchange notes on best practices practiced in different academic libraries and incorporate value addition concepts. As many as 172 case studies had been received, which had a main focus on practicising librarian.

In a bid to evolve better practices for restoring old books and documents, papers discussing 'collection development and restoration of old books' would be presented, he added.
