Advocates stage protest against CrPC amendments

Chennai, Aug 8 (UNI) Practising advocates of Madras High Court today abstained from court proceedings in protest against the CrPC amendments, which were notified recently.

The Centre had recently notified 37 amendments in the CrPC out of 44 amendments proposed last year.

Advocates led by Madras High Court Advocates Association President R C Paulkanagaraj took out a procession inside the court complex raising slogans against the Centre and demanding immediate withdrawal of the objectionable portions of the amendments.

The advocates would meet the Chief Minister tommorrow to discuss the issue, he added.
