19 financially backward students selected for scholarship

Kolkata, Aug 8 (UNI) Noted industrialist Pawan Kumar Ruia today assured that scholarship of Ruia Hospital and Educational Research Institution for the poor, meritorious and financially backward secondary and higher secondary students would continue.

" We have selected for scholarship this year five secondary and 12 higher secondary students, who are meritorious but financially backward students for completing their next level of studies, " Mr Ruia said after handing over Rs 2,15,000 to 17 students for covering the entire education of their next three or five years of studies, The scholarship started this year and it would be continue.

" Next year we will contribute similar fund for this purpose, " he said.

Mr Ruia also asked the students for take care of the society, saying only then the society would take care of others.

City Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said the scholarship would be given later to another two girls.

" We have decided to sponsor 20 poor students but due to non-availability we were giving to 19 students this year, " he added.
