TBS's rollforming facility in Pune becomes operational
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd (TBS) today inaugurated its first rollforming and pre-engineered building facility near the IT Park at Hinjewadi, Pune.
The company, a 50:50 joint venture between India's Tata Steel and Australia's BlueScope Steel Ltd, also unveiled its new corporate identity.
''This facility reaffirms our commitment that Tata BlueScope Steel will create value in the steel business. The building industry is experiencing rapid growth and it is a great opportunity to showcase our range of product and solutions to the construction industry. In doing so, this boosts the consumption of steel in this region.''Tata Steel Managing Diector B Muthuraman said.
The facility, one of the three rollforming and pre-engineered building facilities in India, would serve the Western region, while the other two, one in Chennai and the other one in Rajasthan, are now under construction. They would serve India's growth territories in the South and North respectively.
The new facility will house a design centre with a fully staffed engineering team that will create new concepts, products and applications of steel in buildings. This facility is capable of product testing in order to assure quality and demonstrate features to customers, a company statement said.
The new facility would manufacture, design and supply of a range of Butler pre-engineered buildings and Lysaght steel building solutions.
