Suicide bomber kills 9 in Iraq's Samarra

Baghdad, Aug 7: A suicide bomber strapped with explosives blew himself up at a police station in the town of Samarra north of Baghdad today, killing at least nine people and wounding 10, police sources said.

There were no further details.

Sunni Arab insurgents frequently bomb and shoot Iraqi police, security forces and soldiers as part of a campaign to topple the new US-backed, Shi'ite-led government, which has failed to deliver on promises of easing violence.
