Stop debate on script controversy - KYKL
Imphal, Aug 7 (UNI) The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has imposed a ban on debates on the Meitei script issue.
KYKL general secretary N Oken said in a statement that since introduction of indigenous Meitei script in schools, the controversy erupted whether it was the real script or not.
He, however, noted that there can be room for changes in the script as improvisation was necessary. The organisation has also banned meetings on the issue and anyone violating the decision will be awarded 'capital punishment'.
Mr Oken said, ''Even if newspapers publish any item on the issue, we will award capital punishment.'' He appealed to all to use Meitei script prominently in all boards and said the size should be twice the size of the English script.
Manipuri papers should also write in bold letters in Meitei script, he added.
