One killed in two more grenade attacks

Guwahati, Aug 7 (UNI) At least one civilian was killed and ten others, including five security personnel, were injured as Asom witnessed two more grenade attacks tonight in run up to the Independence Day.

The first attack was at Mahur where five persons injured while the second one was attack on a CRPF patrol party at Digboi, killing one civilian and injuring five CRPF personnel.

In both the cases, the militants managed to escape.

Meanwhile, the pro-ULFA civil rights organizations have continued to mount pressure and a torch light procession was taken out pressing for withdrawal of army, release of the jailed ULFA leaders and a softer approach of the Union Home Ministry to initiate the talks. Several hundreds youths took part.
