Nurses in Manipur take mass casual leave
Imphal, Aug 7 (UNI) The government nurses today went on a mass casual leave to protest alleged indifferent attitude of the Manipur government.
The Nurses Association of Manipur has also threatened to launch an indefinite cease work strike from August 9 if its demands were not conceded by August eight.
NAM President N Memton said the nurses were forced to work under the Essential Services Act, however, they were not given any facility as required.
NAM, since 1999 has been demanding new pay structure as per salary enjoyed by neighbouring states and central institutes. For example nurses here get only Rs 125 as dress allowance, which was much less than they spent for.
She said while the government conceded 75 per cent demands of the doctors, it refused audience to discuss the matter with the NAM, she said.
