New VC for Rajasthan University

Jaipur, Aug 7 (UNI) Eminent educationist Dr Narendra Kumar Jain has taken over as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University from today.

Dr Jain, whose tenure will last for three years, has been teaching in Meerut University for the past 13 years and is a PhD in Botany.

He had been acting Vice-Chancellor of the University since October 2005.

Dr Jain has written a number of research papers which have been published in the journals of national repute. He is also a post graduate in Public Administration from Rajasthan University.

Dr Jain was a fellow of Sussex University in England and has worked upon university-industry linkage there. He is also a fellow of Botanical Society and Advanced Botanical Studies Society.

During his tenure as the joint secretary in the University Grants Commission, he helped set up the Western regional office in Pune in 1994.
