MP bags top spot in male sterilisation
Bhopal, Aug 7 (UNI) With 18.25 per cent participation, Madhya Pradesh bagged top spot among Indian states in male sterilisation for 2005-06.
This was announced recently during the union health ministry's annual review meeting of male participation in family planning procedures. The number of no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) procedures were 30,625 in the state. Corresponding figures in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were 29,795 and 26,683 respectively, sources said.
This state boasts of a separate NSV research centre established by the government.
