Jeev slips three rungs, still highest ranked Indian golfer

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh's below-par show in Hokkaido cost him three places even though the seasoned pro, at 144th, remained the highest ranked Indian golfer according to the latest Official World Golf Rankings issued today.

Jeev, the UBS Asian Tour Order of Merit leader, had began well in the Sun Chlorella Classic and was breathing down the neck of the leaders till the second round. Things went horribly wrong in the final two rounds and Jeev eventually finished a poor tied 21st.

The poor show saw him slip three rungs to 144th with 1.11 average point, according to information received here today.

Jyoti Randhawa (.99) is the second Indian in the ladder, followed by the young and exciting Shiv Kapur (.91), who clings on to his 175th place. Shiv has earlier broken into the top 100 of the European Tour Order of Merit.

The Orlando-based Arjun Atwal (.84) remains static at 194.

Tiger Woods, the World Number One, won the Buick Open at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club to complete his 50th PGA Tour win in a career of less than 200 starts.

Woods has now held the world number One position for a total of 403 weeks and with wins at the 135th Open Golf Championship and Buick Open has extended his lead over Phil Mickelson to 9.29 average points.

Second placed Jim Furyk, the world number four, narrows the gap to Vijay Singh and the World Number Three spot.
