Guidelines over booking student using unfair means

Allahabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today issued several guidelines to be followed by all state university authorities, while charging a student for using unfair means in examinations.

Justice S N Srivastava said the chargesheet must contain definite charges that student made use of unfair means or attempted to use unfair means or offending material was recovered from him/her or it was recovered from a place accessible to the student.

It also directed that material recovered from the possession of a student must bear signature of the students.

The court allowed the writ petition of A K Tripathi, a student of Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, whose result was cancelled by the varsity on the ground of using unfair means in economics in BA (III) examination.

The court observed charges were vague and not clear, and thus issued guidelines to be used in future by varsity authorities.
