Four washed away in flood, one body found

Burhanpur, MP, Aug 7 (UNI) One person died and two were missing after four people were washed away in two separate incidents due to heavy rains in this western Madhya Pradesh district, police said today.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Jain said two motorcycle-borne youths were washed away while crossing a bridge over 'Kagazi' rivulet near Dapora village in this district.

Rajendra's corpse was recovered nearby, while Rakesh saved himself by somehow climbing a tree.

In a separate incident, Sudhakar Rajput (40) and Ravindra Koli (35) had come to see flood over Tapti river but were washed away.

A three-storied house collapsed at Silampura in Burhanpur. No loss of life was reported in the incident.

Besides Tapti river, other rivers and rivulets were in spate, as the district recorded 110 mm rainfall overnight.

Neighbouring district Khandwa recorded heavy rainfall.
