Flood situation eases in Dantewara
Jagdalpur, Aug 7 (UNI) The flood situation in Chhattisgarh's Dantewara district eased a bit with rains subsiding and water level in Shabri river receding although there was virtually no let up in the situation at Konta 'tehsil' and Ijram village due to backwaters of the Godawari river.
''Relief operations are underway and army helicopters had been pressed into service to provide essential materials to the flood-affected,'' Dantewara Collector K R Pisda told UNI.
He said around 5,000 houses were damaged in Dantewara district, while traffic was still affected in Sukma and Konta regions. About 31,000 people had been lodged in 19 relief camps.
Heavy rains had pounded Dantewara district, while Indravati and Shabri rivers were in spate since the past four-five days.
