Cong for 'comprehensive food policy': KPCC
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (UNI) The Congress in Kerala today said the Centre should bring in a ''comprehensive food policy'' rather than impose a complete ban on Pepsi and Coca Cola.
''We are not against banning the sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi in the state'', Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala told UNI and added that a mere ban on the soft drinks would not have the desired results.
Noting that a blanket ban would only develop curiosity among people, he said the best way to check such soft drinks was to bring in a ''comprehensive food policy''.
Even in tea, the residues of pesticides were very high, Mr Chennithala added.
Close on the heels of some states deciding to ban these soft drinks in Educational Instituions and Legislative Assemblies, the Left Democratic Front in Kerala had yesterday requested the government to impose a total ban on the sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola in the state.
