Civic body submits affidavit before Court
Kolkata, Aug 7 (UNI) Worried over the dismal affairs at the city's famed Kalighat temple, Kolkata Municipal Corporation today filed an affidavit before Calcutta High court.
In the affidavit, the civic authorities admitted that things were not in good shape in the century old temple, a place of worship for thousands of people across the country and from the neighbouring Nepal.
The affidavit stressed the need for a coordinated effort to keep the temple complex clean, which remained dirty with rotten flower petals and mud most of the time.
It also specified the mismanagement of funds by a section of the people and felt that the funds collected from devotees should be kept in the safe for the interests of the temple.
The civic body also suggested some schemes for development of the temple.
A order of the High Court on a devotee praying to set the things of the temple right prompted the civic body to submit the affidavit.
