Chhattisgarh bans soft drinks in govt offices
Raipur, Aug 7 (UNI) Following in the footsteps of BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to ban use of aerated soft drinks in its offices and at official functions in view of allegations of high pesticide content.
''We have decided in principle. A detailed order will be issued by the evening,'' Chief Minister Raman Singh told reporters here.
Though he did not spell out the details, indications are that sale of aerated soft drinks would be banned in schools and colleges in all 16 districts of the state.
The New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment recently claimed that its lab tests showed pesticide residues in all soft drinks.
