New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Hundreds of activists, spearheaded by public rights campaigners and Magsaysay awardees Aruna Roy, Sandeep Pandey and Arvind Kejriwal, today took out a rally in protest against the Government move to amend the Right to Information Act, 2005.

Entertainer Palash Sen joined the group with his band 'Euphoria' performing on the occasion at Jantar Mantar.

''We see this (the proposed amendment) as the last desperate attempt by the dishonest within the Government to save their empire.

We are determined that we would not let that happen,'' a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister by the protestors stated.

Describing the cabinet decision to amend the RTI Act to exclude file notings, cabinet papers and answer sheets of examinations as a retrograde and anti-democratic step, Mr Pandey said he would start an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar from tomorrow.
