A judge deposes in Ajit Sarkar murder case
Patna, Aug 7 (UNI) An additional district and sessions judge of Tishazari court of New Delhi, Gurdip Singh Saini, today deposed before a local court in connection with CPI(M) leader Ajit Sarkar murder case.
The judge of Motor Vehicle Accident Claim Tribunal, Mr Saini, appeared in the court of additional district and sessions judge Jayant Kumar Sen as 59th witness of the case being probed by the CBI.
Mr Saini said during his posting as a metropolitan magistrate of New Delhi, he had recorded the confessional statement of Rajan Tiwari in connection with another murder case on February 22, 1999.
The judge would be cross examined before the court by the defence advocate tomorrow in the case.
The Supreme court had directed the lower court to hear the case on day to day basis for early disposal of the case.
Earlier, Mr Sarkar was shot dead at Purnea in 1998.
RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, former MLA Rajan Tiwari and several others were made accused in the case. Mr Yadav and Mr Tiwari were lodged at Tihar jail, New Delhi and at Beur Jail, Patna respectively in connection with the case.
