31 convicted in fodder scam case

Ranchi, Aug 7 (UNI) A special CBI court today sentenced 31 people, accused in the multi-crore rupee fodder scam, which rocked Bihar a decade ago to six years rigorous imprisonment.

Special judge A S Ansari, hearing the case RC 3 A/2001 regarding withdrawal of Rs 2,74,00,000 from Palamu Treassury office in undivided Bihar, pronounced judgement on all the 31 accused and sentenced them to six years imprisonment.

As the fodder scam to the tune of Rs 950 crore was unearthed, it shook the chair of then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, forcing him to resign.

Besides former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, many senior politicans and bureaucrats had been accused in the scam.

CBI special courts are hearing the cases in Ranchi and Patna.
