Varanasi schools ban cold drinks after CSE claims
Varanasi, Aug 6 (UNI) At least six schools here have banned the sale and consumption of cold drinks on their premises following Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) claims that all such drinks contained pesticides.
The lead in this direction has been taken by Durga Charan Girls Inter College, with its Principal, Gurcharan Kaur banning the sale and consumption of cold drinks in school premises with immediate effect.
Ms Kaur has warned students and staff members of disciplinary action if caught flouting the directive.
Similarly, other leading schools, including Gurunanak Khalsa Inter College, Gopi Radha Girls Inter Collge, Bipin Bihari College, Kanya Kumari College and five branches of Sunbeam School, have also banned the sale and consumption of cold drinks.
Chairman of Sunbeam School Dipak Madhok has gone a step further by ordering installation of machines providing fresh fruit juice to students.
