Software engineer arrested for duping job seekers
Chennai, Aug 6 (UNI) A city-based software engineer was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police today on the charge of cheating several persons, including some college professors, to the tune of several lakh of rupees, promising them of securing jobs in China.
Based on a complaint from a college professor couple from Kerala, a police party swooped on a hotel where Rajesh Trivedhi stayed and seized a number of incriminating documents, educational certificates and passports of various persons, among other things, from his room.
He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody, police said.
According to police, Rajesh invited applications from job seekers for overseas placement through e-mail. After completing the application formalities, he invited the aspirants to his hotel room and collected a huge amount of money, including educational certificates from them with the promise that they would soon receive the appointment orders directly from China.
After waiting for several days, the job seekers, who went to meet Rajesh in the hotel room had to return disappointed as he was not available there, police said.
Keeping a low profile for a couple of months, Rajesh used to again invite fresh applications by giving a new address of another star hotel in the city to lure fresh aspirants, they added.
