NRG arrested for crime in US
Rajkot, Aug 6 (UNI) A non-resident Gujarati Bhavesh H Kamdar has been arrested from his residence at Karanpara area last Friday in connection with a fraud and cheating case lodged against him by the US Government.
Police inspector V V Gohel said Kamdar has been arrested under CrPC 41(G) for committing a crime in a foreign country.
A red corner notice was issued against Kamdar by the Interpol and the CBI was informed that Kamdar might be in Rajkot, Mr Gohel said.
The police, on a request from the CBI, arrested Kamdar from his residence, he added.
Kamdar is wanted in the US for allegedly cheating that government to the tune of USD one million through a public assignment contract.
Mr Gohel said that Bhavesh had fled the US in 2001. A native of Rajkot, Kamdar had migrated to Washington and had settled there over a decade back.
The CBI and the Interpol have been informed about his arrest, the police officer said.
