Inflows at prakasam barrage to increase
Vijayawada, Aug 6 (UNI) Krishna district collector Navin Mittal today said the inflows at the prakasam barrage which had subsided in the morning, were likely to increase and cross five lakh cusecs by tomorrow.
Talking to newspersons after visiting the flood affected low lying areas downstream of the barrage, Mr Mittal said the heavy discharge of flood waters from Nagarjunasagar reservoir would reach the barrage and would be diverted into sea.
He appealed to the people not to return to their homes till the flood waters receded.
He said about 6,500 people had been shifted to ten relief camps and were provided food and drinking water besides sanitation facilities.
Senior officers were working round the clock and monitoring the facilities being provided to the flood affected people. Medical camps were also being set up, he added.
