Gulshan against blaming actors for endorsing colas
New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Asking Bollywood actors to stop endorsing colas as they contain pesticides is like blaming a waiter for serving adulterated food cooked in the hotel, Bollywood's archetypical 'bad man' Gulshan Grover says.
Reacting strongly to the celebrities from the world of Bollywood coming under fire following disclosures that soft drinks like Pepsi and Coke contain a high level of pesticides, Gulshan Grover, talking to UNI here, said, ''You cannot blame a waiter of a hotel for serving adulterated food prepared there as that is a job he is doing to make a living for himself.
''Similarly, we stars, like the waiter of a hotel, are just presenting, as part of our jobs, a product that is made by someone else.'' Asking the Bollywood stars to stop endorsing these products, rather than pointing a finger at the producers of these soft drinks, is really unfair. It's like asking why he worked in a particular film when he is doing so just to earn his living. Why don't you instead ask the producers of the films or, in these case, soft drinks, to stop manufacturing these products,'' he added.
''As actors who do films or ads to earn their livelihood, we are only doing what offers are coming to us whether it is a role in a particular film or an assigment to endorse a product,''the actor said during his visit to the capital to promote MTV's new season of roadies in which he appears as a celebrity who puts young participants on the adventure reality show through several gruelling tasks.
However, Grover said personally he and his family did not prefer consuming soft drinks like Pepsi and Coke.
''I would rather prefer drinks like the 'Lassi' and nimbu paani' which as Indians we have grown up with,''he said.
