Fire station sanctioned in 1978 yet to be established
Srinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) A fire-fighting station, sanctioned in 1978, during the late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah rule for Shalimar, is yet to be established, according to official records.
The records say that that government sanctioned a fire station for Shalimar, about 16 km from here on the bank of famed Dal Lake, in 1978, a year after after Late Sheikh become Chief Minister of the state.
However, even after about three decades, the fire station could not be established, the records said.
It further said that it could not be established due to non- availablity of accommodation because of rivalry among the locals.
In case of any fire incident or any other natural calamity, fire fighting engines are being summoned from other areas, including Srinagar.
