Essential Commodities Act to be amended to control prices:CM

Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that the Essential Commodities Act would be amended soon to check prices.

Talking to mediapersons after an aerial survey to asses the flood situation in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts, the Chief Minister admitted that prices of essential commodities had gone up recently due to fraudulent methods adopted by businessmen and warned that stringent action would be taken against them under the amended Act.

Dr Reddy said essential commodities including cooking oil were being supplied at wholesale prices in all Rythu Bazars and the system would be further improved.
