DIC(K) to maintain equidistance with UDF, LDF: Muraleedharan
Pathanamthitta, Aug 6 (UNI) Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) (DIC-K) president K Muraleedharan today said his party would treat the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) equally as there is no difference between them on the style of functioning or stated policy stands.
Talking to newspersons at the conclusion of two-day leadership camp of the party held at Charalkkunnu near here, he said it was decided to make DIC (K) to function as a creative opposition in the prevailing political scenario.
The DIC(K) would support the decisions and actions of the LDF Government aimed at realising the welfare of the common man, he added.
Reiterating his party's goal of forging a ''democratic secular political front,'' he said efforts would be on to achieve this without any compromise on the basic ideals of the party.
In the view of DIC (K), the emergence of a third front in the state still stod as a vibrant proposition, he said adding that the party held discussions with the constituent parties of both fronts in this regard.
He said no Government had the right to take away the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution to the religious minorities.
Mr Muraleedharan blamed Education Minister M A Baby for the worsening of the self financing professional college issue due to his ill-timed statements.
The first state conference of the DIC (K) would be held at Eranakulam on November 18 and 19, he added.
