Delhi to witness marked development by 2010: CM
New Delhi, Aug 6: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said tremendous infrastructural development will be witnessed in East Delhi in the run up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Construction of the Games village in the trans Yamuna area will not only catalyse all round development of the area but would also ensure civic services and civic infrastructure at par with the most developed localities of East Delhi, Mrs Dikshit said after laying the foundation stone of a community centre at Old Seemapuri in East Delhi.
Addressing local residents, Mrs Dikshit said her Government was fully conscious of the development needs of the Trans Yamuna area and was commited to fulfilling them in right earnest.
Informing that the past few years had witnessed several new hospitals, community centres and a cultural centre in the area, she said the growth catalysed by the proposed construction of the Commonwealth Games Village in the area, East Delhi was expected to be at par with any other developed area of the capital.
Present on the occasion were area MP Sandeep Dikshit, chairman of the Trans Yamuna Development Board Narendra Nath, local MLA Veer Singh Dhingan, Chairman of the Delhi Wakf Board Chaudhry Matin Ahmed and councillors Kiranwati Tak and Chaudhry Ajit Singh.
