Two teachers assaulted by unknown persons in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 5 (UNI) Two teachers were assaulted last night by unknown persons at Koirengei near Liberal college gate here while staging a protest.

Police here today said the aided college teachers sat on a stir, demanding implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the government earlier.

Police said the two teachers were in serious condition and undergoing treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Meanwhile, students of Government Polytechnic here announced that they would intensify the stir against the government.

The Students' Union said they had been boycotting classes since July 30. The students demanded filling up of vacant posts and development of infrastructure.
