Three killed in building collapse

Hyderabad, Aug 5 (UNI) Three persons were killed here at Karimnagar when a 100-year-old building collapsed and fell on the house adjacent to it.

According to police, Joel, his wife Manjula and her father Anandam, who came to participate in a marriage function in the city were sleeping in their relative's house, when the mishap occurred.

Due to the heavy rains for the last three days, the old building caved in and the boulders fell on the house next to the building.

While Joel and Manjula died on the spot, Anandam died while being taken to the hospital.

Another woman, who was injured in the incident, was admitted to the Osmania Hospital here.

Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir, Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Jaju and District Collector Chandravadan visited the spot.

BJP National Secretary and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya who visited the spot, alleged that the government was not bothered about the public safety and the condition of old buildings were not checked.
