Three-day state mourning for Nandini Satapathy
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) The Orissa government has declared three -day state mourning as a mark of respect to former state Chief Minister Nandini Satapathy, who died last night after prolonged illness at the age of 75.
The only and first womeon Chief Minister of Orissa, Ms Satapathy, ailing for quite long time, died at the Capital Hospital at 2045 hours.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who visited her residence last night to pay his tribute, declared that all government offices and educational institutions in the state would remain closed today as a tribute to the departed soul.
The mortal remains of Nandini Satapathy would be consigned to flame this afternoon after the arrival of her eldest son with full state honour.
Meanwhile, people from all walks of life thronged the Suryanagar residence of the great leader to pay their last respect.
Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur also visited her residence last night to offer floral tribute to the departed soul.
