Shiv Sena corporator booked for filing false affidavit
Akola, Aug 5 (UNI) A Shiv Sena corporator from the Akola Municipal Corporation has been booked for allegedly furnishing false affidavit to the Election Officer during the last AMC elections. However, he has not been arrested so far, police said here today.
Crime has been registered against Shiv Sena corporator Vijay Deshmukh by the City Kotwali last night under sections 171A, 177 and 181 of IPC, which relates to submitting false information and furnishing a false affidavit respectively, after obtaining the mandatory permission from the local magistrate, police officials informed.
Former district chief of Shiv Sena here Mr Vijay Malokar had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, which in turn directed the Municipal Commissioner to enquire into the matter and take suitable action, officials disclosed.
Consequently, the assistant returning officer Mr Rajendra Ghanbahaddur filed a formal First Information Report (FIR) with the City Kotwali against the Sena corporator. The Sena corporator is alleged to have submitted a false affidavit before the election officer declaring has no personal property prior to the 2001 Municipal polls whle he had property on his name during that period.
The FIR was lodged on August 2 and permission was sought to register a case against the corporator from the local court last evening, police added.
