Official arrested in forged certificate case

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) A dealing assistant of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office at Saraswati Vihar here has been arrested for fraudulently issuing domicile certificates to 11 persons from Haryana and Rajasthan, Delhi police said today.

Accused Tek Chand was arrested on Thursday for having allegedly cleared the applications, before the SDM issued the certificates, in 2002.

The 11 persons had furnished the same addresses of Sultan Puri.

The fraud was detected during scrutiny of applications for the post of constables in the Border Security Force against UP, Delhi and Uttaranchal quota.

According to police, investigations revealed the 11 persons had paid Rs 2,000-Rs 2,500 to a tout to get the certificates. The tout, in turn, had used Tek Chand to get these certificates.
