Insurance cover for tribal students

Bhopal, Aug 5 (UNI) About 90,000 tribal students in Madhya Pradesh will be provided insurance cover of upto Rs 50,000 each with the state government contributing the premium.

Inmates of hostels and Ashrams run by the Tribal Welfare department would be covered by the scheme, under which Rs 50,000 would be paid for accidental death or permanent disability and Rs 25,000 for partial but permanent disability of upto 40 per cent.

Students who meet with any eventuality while on tour for education, sports or competitive examinations in the country will also get the benefits, official sources said.

The state government has invited tenders from insurance companies on the rate of annual premium for the policy effective from July 1 to June 30.
