India Under-18 team enters final

Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) India entered the finals of the four-nation Under-18 hockey tournament in Singapore with a hard fought 4-3 win over Malaysia today.

According to informations from Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) the keenly-fought contest began with India going into the lead through Gurvinder Singh who converted a penalty corner in the 14th minute of the match. The Malaysians drew level in the 18th minute through a field goal.The teams were level 1-1 at half time.

After the Indians fell back later, Vikramjit Singh drew level for India through a field goal in the 52nd minute. The Malaysians sounded the boards in the 50th minute.

Malaysia forced a 3-2 lead in the 53rd minute. But India drew level again in the 55th minute through Gurinder Singh Chandi's goal and forced a victory with Harjit Singh converting a penalty corner in the 58th minute (4-3).
