India expels Pak diplomat
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) India today expelled a Pakistan diplomat in a tit-for-tat action shortly after Islamabad ordered the expulsion of an Indian official for involvement in spying activities.
The Pakistani diplomat, who was ordered to leave the country, was identified as Rafiq Ahmed by Indian officials.
More details were awaited.
Earlier, reports from Islamabad quoted Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam as saying the Indian government had been asked to withdraw Deepak Kaul, a consular official at the Indian High Commission.
''He was found involved in activities incompatible with his diplomatic status,'' she said, referring to the term usually used for spying.
