Five killed in a road accident in Bengal

Krishnagar, Aug 5 (UNI) At least five people were killed and 17 seriously injured when a private bus carrying them over turned on Karimpore road near Paninala in Nadia district today.

Police here said the accident occurred when the bus, in a bid to overtake a vehicle collided head-on with a truck and then overturned.

While three were killed on the spot, the rest succumbed to their wounds in hospital.

The seriously injured were undergoing treatment in Krishnagar General Hospital, police added.
