Firing in college premises
Bhopal, Aug 5 (UNI) In the ongoing feud over student elections, a group of four people today opened fire on a student of rival group but he escaped unhurt in the government college at the BHEL township here today.
Additional Superintendent of Police J K Pathak said no casualty was reported in the incident.
According to college students, the group led by Mahendra alias Gattu reached college and fired on Sunil with a countrymade gun.
Shocked by the sudden firing, students caught hold of one accomplice Pawan and locked him in a room. Meanwhile, other accused Mahendra, Krishna and Rahul fled.
After Pawan was locked inside the room, police was informed.
However, by the time police reached, Pawan escaped through a window.
City Superintendent of Police Shyam Lal Yadav said preliminary information indicated that rivalry over student's union election was behind the incident. Mahendra alias Gattu is an outsider.
Police recovered a countrymade gun and spent cartridges from the spot.
