Elections postponed due to floods

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 5 (UNI) Elections to the eight village panchayats have been postponed in Narasapuram division of West Godavari district, as flood waters of vishist Godavari entered the villages.

The elections will be held tomorrow.

West Godavari district Panchayat Officer, Mr Nagarjuna Sagar said here Kanakaya Lanka, Pedalanka, Badava, Lakshmipalem, Koderu, Ayodhya Lanka, Pedamallam, Yellamanchili Lanka villages were affected by the flood water.

Meanwhile, sarpanch election to the Mogulturu village was also postponed as the contesting candidate died yesterday. However, the ward members election would be held in the village as per schedule, he said.
